Volendam trouser - 100's Houndstooth Wool
The Volendam trouser is a personal favorite in the collection.
The history of the trouser is rich and close to home for us.
It originates from the city of Volendam in the Netherlands.
We kept the idea of the lowered crotch, cropped wide legs, pleats, and balloon shape,
but refined it for more everyday wear. Inseam pockets, a button fly, and jetted pockets create a more polished version of this classic garment.
We also added more modern pattern-drafting techniques to make the shape better suited to the natural form of the body.
The end result is a modern-day version of a design rooted in Dutch fisherman and workwear history.
It was the trouser worn by fishermen, making this one of the closest pieces the Netherlands has to traditional workwear.
The original name was “Pij Broek”, “Pij” referring to the original fabric it was made from, and “broek” being the Dutch word for “pants.”

Disclaimer: Most of our garments are Made-to-order. Please make sure to check your size before ordering. We work with local seamstresses and factories to make the garments once an order is placed. On average it takes 2 to 4 weeks to manufacture a piece.
Please note that our clothing is meant to be worn oversized. Therefore the most important measurements for you to take into account are the arm length for tops and coats and the side seam and waist band measurement when it comes to pants. All our pants have a drawstring incorporated on the inside of the waistband which can be used to tighten the waist to fit you properly.

Lastly, if you would like your pants shortened or lengthened, we are able to adjust them for you. However these items cannot be refunded. Please send us an email with your order details and let us know your measurements if you would like an item in your order to be modified.

Shipping & returns
We offer free worldwide standard shipping and free returns within 14 days of receiving the order. Taxes and duties may apply on delivery, depending on the destination country. These will not be included at checkout.
If the garment is in stock, it will be shipped within 2 working days with DHL. Made to Order garments will be manufactured by us in our atelier in The Hague within 15 working days of the order being placed.
